Digital Safety at Ōtūmoetai Primary School
At OPS, we’re always looking for ways to keep our tamariki safe and support them both online and in their emotional wellbeing. We introduced Linewize Monitor and Classwize in 2024 to strengthen online safety and classroom digital management. These tools have been invaluable in removing digital distraction, improving focus and keeping our students safe online.
We also use Pulse which is another Linewize solution that is part of our wider strategy to support students, not just in the digital space but in their overall hauora/wellbeing. Pulse is used by Year 5-6 students.
Who is Linewize?
Linewize supports 27,000 schools and 35 Million students. They are a global leader in online safety and they started here in NZ! Linewize supports 1 in 5 schools across NZ.
What is Linewize Monitor & Classwize?
Linewize, a safeguarding and monitoring software. Using Linewize keeps students safe and ensure Chromebooks are used in the best way possible to support learning.
Ōtūmoetai Primary School we take full responsibility for our devices, networks, and Google accounts. This means that whenever tamariki are using their school Chromebooks, their safety is our priority. Class teachers are able to monitor activity in real time, reduce distractions, and support students to navigate the digital space in a safe and purposeful way.
What is Pulse?
Pulse is a wellbeing check-in tool that gives our tamariki a simple, private, and consistent way to share how they’re feeling. It supports the development of mindfulness and emotional awareness habits and expands on the work we already do through the Zones of Regulation programme as part of our Health & PE Curriculum.

“Founded in 2018 by Rob and Zareen, Our Kids Online began as a response to a pivotal moment: all four children in their blended family started asking for handheld devices. With both Rob and Zareen having authored books in the mental health space, they were deeply concerned by the rising rates of anxiety and depression among tweens and teens. This sparked an intense journey of research and discovery.
What they uncovered was alarming—a global epidemic of online harms affecting children of all ages. Determined to make a difference, they committed themselves to helping parents and caregivers understand these risks, offering practical safety solutions and guidance on building emotional resilience in kids through their Cyber Safety Presentations.”
