Nyree Hanna - Room 9

Year 3 & 4 Teacher & Team Leader

I am in my fourth year teaching at OPS.  I enjoy teaching in Kea Team and am lucky to have a great class of Year 3 and 4 students this year.  I am passionate about teaching and get excited seeing children progress in their learning.

I was born in Tauranga and having moved away for a few years was drawn back to spend time with my family.  In my spare time I can be found on the golf course, giving my new love of triathlons a go or watching a variety of sports.

Carla Morrison - Room 6

Year 4 Teacher

I am very excited to be joining the Kea team at Ōtūmoetai Primary School in 2023. I have over 15 years teaching experience and I am an enthusiastic educator who loves working with students, to assist them in reaching their full potential. I am passionate about teaching all areas of the curriculum and I create positive and enjoyable learning environments for all students.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Caleb and daughter Charlotte, going to the beach, exploring new places and hiking. On the weekends you will find me attending my daughter's sporting events and socialising with friends.

Carolyn Andrews - Room 7

Year 3 Teacher

I am very privileged to be teaching a fabulous year 3 class in Kea team this year.
I have taught at Ōtūmoetai Primary for a number of years mainly in the junior area. I am passionate about teaching and love being a part of a child's early learning. The enthusiasm they bring is infectious and the growth they make in all areas of their development is so exciting.
I endeavour to foster a love of learning, developing all aspects of the child as a whole, in my teaching. Relationships are integral to  my teaching and I acknowledge the variety of experiences, values and abilities the children and their whanau bring to our class.
Outside of school, family and friends are very important to me. I also enjoy following different sports, going to the beach, fishing, reading and socialising with family and friends.

I have been a teacher at Ōtūmoetai Primary School for over ten years. During this time I have had the opportunity to teach at every year level of the school. This year I am teaching a fantastic class of year 4 students. I am passionate about learning and fostering students’ natural curiosity about the world around them. I have a degree in Science and use this curriculum area extensively in my classroom teaching, integrating Science where possible with Maths, Literacy and the Arts.

Wayne Miller - Room 11

Year 3 & 4 Teacher

I have been teaching at Ōtūmoetai Primary School for a number of years now and have been priviliged to work with so many amazing children from within our community. I really enjoy teaching in Kea team and love seeing the kids' excited smiles each morning. I'm passionate about my sport and do my best to contribute my skills to help students enjoy and get the most out of their sporting experiences. As well as sport, I love teaching in the classroom and guiding students to greater achievements with their core subjects. I aim to encourage students to develop into confident, responsible, life-long learners.

Outside of school I love spending time with my family and in the outdoors. I enjoy spending time at the beach, swimming and surfing. Equally, I love getting away from it all up in the Kaimai ranges, exploring the many great tracks at our doorstep, or camping at some remote location. You may also see me out running around my local community, Ōtūmoetai.

Kia ora

Having been a part of the OPS community for a number of years, I feel very privileged to be joining the Kea teaching team. I am excited to engage with a fabulous bunch of year 3 & 4 students. I believe developing manaakitanga is crucial so children feel secure in their environment and can actively learn.

Outside of school, family and friends are very important to me. I love socialising, being outdoors, exploring magical local spots, and enjoying all the sunshine Bay of Plenty has to offer.  I am genuinely excited to be a part of a welcoming community that nurtures, encourages, and challenges children to grow emotionally and intellectually.
