Tarquin Smith - Room 1

This is my fourth year teaching at Otumoetai Primary. Before OPS I was at Bethlehem Primary and before that I was teaching in Christchurch. I love teaching Year 5s and 6s, and enjoy working with children in their last two years of Primary School, watching them develop and preparing themselves to go to Intermediate. I love teaching Maths! When I am not at school I enjoy water sports, especially being at the beach, and my favourite sports are Surf Life Saving and Water Polo.

Kia Ora Koutou

I am looking forward to working in Otumoetai Primary School and am excited to be part of the OPS team. I have taught for many years both within NZ and abroad. My family have lived in the Otumoetai area for many years. We love the Bay of Plenty and like all in our community, appreciate how lucky we are to live here.

My wife Anna works for Waikato University in Tauranga. We have twins sons, Elijah and Samuel, and a daughter Jessica who attend Aquinas College.

I look forward to working with you all this year.

Jane Foster - Room 3

Kia ora koutou,

I have been teaching since 2009 throughout New Zealand and the United Kingdom. I am excited to be returning to OPS and to be back in the Weka team.

Travelling is a passion of mine and I have spent a number of years exploring many countries around the world.

In my spare time I enjoy wake-boarding, swimming and hiking. I am currently studying Español and Te Reo Māori.

My goal as a teacher is to inspire lifelong learners to reach their full potential in a positive and stimulating learning environment.

Mauri ora,

Jane Foster

Kendyll Reeve - Room 5

My name is Kendyll Reeve and I was born and raised in Tauranga. I taught in Whakatane at Awakeri Primary School (Full Primary) for 5 years, teaching from Year 0-1 to Year 7/8. I love my time there but am pleased to be back home. This will be my third year at Otumoetai Primary School teaching Year 5/6 students. I am currently teaching in Room 5 with a wonderful group of students. In my spare time I enjoy netball, swimming, volleyball, and dancing.

Carl Acton - Room 4

I moved to NZ from the UK in 2007. This is my 8th year of teaching at OPS. I have a passion for teaching maths, science and technology.
I love teaching Yr 5/6 and preparing the children to become life long learners.
I have two primary aged children and my wife is also a teacher.
In my spare time I enjoy mountain biking, my time at the beach and exploring our beautiful country.

Omri Elyashiv - Room 6

Kia ora koutou

I was born overseas, though did my schooling in Tauranga and have lived in the area for most of my life. I am a beginning teacher with a love for the arts, namely music and visual art. I also enjoy playing volleyball in my own time and have played hockey and other sports over the years.

It is my privilege to be teaching at OPS and intend to give students many learning opportunities, but also the skills they need to find these opportunities independently. I am excited to work within this community and look forward to getting involved further.

Ngā mihi
