Rachael Rowley - Room 8

Team Leader

I have enjoyed teaching at Otumoetai Primary over the last few years. I am the Lead Teacher for Kea Team and really love teaching and working with children in the middle area of the school. It’s rewarding to see their confidence, skills and knowledge grow as the year progresses. I am currently teaching a wonderful class of Year 3 and 4 students.

Jo Denny - Room 10

I have been a teacher at Otumoetai Primary School for over ten years. During this time I have had the opportunity to teach at every year level of the school. This year I am teaching a magnificent class of year 4 students. I am passionate about learning and fostering students’ natural curiosity about the world around them. I have a degree in Science and use this curriculum area extensively in my classroom teaching, integrating Science where possible with Maths, Literacy and the Arts.

Wayne Miller - Room 9

This is my third year at Otumoetai Primary, having previously taught at Tauranga Intermediate School after returning from an extended time overseas teaching and travelling. I'm really enjoying teaching Year 4's and love seeing their excited smiles each morning. I'm passionate about my sport and look forward to contributing my skills to help students enjoy and get the most out of their sporting experiences. As well as sport, I love teaching in the classroom and guiding students to greater achievements with their core subjects. I aim to encourage students to develop into confident, responsible, life-long learners.

Outside of school I love spending time with my family and in the outdoors. I enjoy spending time at the beach, swimming, surfing or supporting my daughters at surf lifesaving. Equally, I love getting away from it all up in the Kaimais, exploring the many great tracks at our doorstep, or camping at some remote location. You may also see me out running around my local community, Otumoetai.

I have taught around the BOP for several years in all areas of Primary school. I have worked at OPS for nearly six years, mainly in the junior area but also relieving over the whole school. This year I will be sharing Room 8 with Miss Rowley and I am looking forward to moving to Kea team and teaching Year 3/4 children.

One of the most important things to me is relationships with students, staff and community. From that we can build the foundations for an amazing learning journey

at OPS. Although I enjoy teaching all areas of the curriculum, I do have a passion for music and the arts and love teaching and learning Kapa Haka.

My husband and I have two adult children who both live in Tauranga. We love living in the Bay and enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer. We enjoy spending time with family and friends.
